Best Of – Houston Growler Fills

We’re not even gonna lie, it was a pretty uneventful weekend and we wanted to do something a little different. Hence our focus on where we take our growlers to get filled with beautiful Texas draft beers. Keep in mind, this list is in no particular order; these places just happen to be our favorite places to fill up and go.

JugsJugs Draft – this Montrose/Upper Kirby area beer haven is an 8th Wonder go-to place. They routinely have five or more 8th Wonder beers on tap and you can find all of their favorites always available. We love the fact that the vast majority of their tap list is made up of Texas brews. You can typically find Live Oak, Brash, Real Ale, Lone Pint, and others available. Here’s a tip: sign up for their e-mail list for coupons that will come to your inbox.

Growlers Montrose – one of the first growler fills I can remember was at Growlers. This Montrose area hotspot is a great place to enjoy some pints, buy some six-packs and bombers, and take home a growler (or two). This establishment recently thought about closing down, but has vowed to remain open provided the support of the community be strong. A tip to first timers: download the mobile app for a list of what’s on tap and for social media discounts.

Premium Draught

Premium Draught – located in the Heights area, this smaller location caters more to the beer drinker who loves harder-to-find beers on tap. With a hand-picked selection, you’re more than able to find a beer you will love whether it’s a Texas favorite, or a national craft beer. A favorite of ours that we always tend to see on tap is Live Oak Hefeweizen. Our tip: fill your growler early as they typically have specials on one or two beers before 6:00 PM. 32 ounce fills are usually $7.00 and 64 ounce fills are usually $12.00.

Whole Foods BrewingWhole Foods Post Oak – there are many Whole Foods Market locations, but the one in the Galleria area gets the nod for us. This location is the first location to have its own in-house brewery. This location has a commitment to beer than many other establishments can’t even consider. A tip to consider: check out their regular beer dinners for a nice food pairing and a night away from cooking. Plus, you can’t beat the $2.00 growler fill discounts they do every Saturday.

Growler SpotThe Growler Spot – head out west to Fulshear if you’re looking for some good beer to go. For those of you in the Katy area, you’re lucky to have a place that you can buy your local No Label beer to-go on a regular basis. This place feels much like a party atmosphere more than other growler fill stations. Our tip: they frequently hold events like pint nights where you can get a free glass. Check in to see what event is coming soon.
